really thankful for my gym membership after eating so much over the weekend. we made seafood paella and the white chocolate raspberry cheesecake. both turned out really great but i hope i won't be seeing paella for at least another year.

i'm doing some major closet cleaning so click here if you're interested in scoring something new (seriously, mostly fall '09 items) for less!

white chocolate raspberry cheesecake

today I am thankful for my white chocolate raspberry cheesecake that turned out perfectly.

i'm also thankful for all the people who take the time to read this blog and send me such nice emails and comments. hope you all have a happy thanksgiving and a productive black friday ;)

white chocolate raspberry cheesecake recipe:
ingredients:
1 cup chocolate cookie crumbs (i used oreos and scraped the cream off with a cheese knife, put them in a plastic bag and used a mallot to turn them into crumbs)
3 tablespoons white sugar
1/4 cup melted butter
1/4 cup seedless raspberry jam
3 packages of 8 oz cream cheese
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup sour cream
3 tablespoons all purpose flour
1 tsp vanilla extract
3 eggs (lightly beaten)
12 ounces white chocolate (cut into tiny pieces)

preheat oven to 325 degrees F
1. mix cookie crumbs, 3 tablespoons sugar, and melted butter into a bowl. press this mixture into the bottom of a 9 inch springform pan
2. evenly place chopped white chocolate over cookie layer
3. melt raspberry jam in a bowl (i microwaved it)
4. in a large mixing bowl, mix the cream cheese with 1/2 cup sugar until smooth. then add eggs into mixture. blend in the vanilla and mix the batter until it's smooth and even.
5. pour half batter over the crust
6. pour raspberry sauce over first batter layer. i used a knife to swirl the raspberry into the batter (try to do this evenly so that each slice contains raspberry!)
7. pour the remaining batter over the top
8. bake for 55-60 minutes. the top should be a golden brown color when it's ready.
9. cool it at room temperature and then cover it with plastic wrap. refrigerate for at least 8 hours.

Black and Blue

i've been eyeing the Anthropologie plaid petals skirt for awhile and was glad i got to try it on in person. the sizing is funky. i'm usually a size 0 or 2 and got this in a 6. i didn't really wear this outfit with moccasins. i ended up changing into them for my walk home.

A Day in the Park

Since I don't have a dog, I took my balenciaga city out for a walk on Sunday :)
Went to Anthropologie and by some fluke scored the Always a Lady Skirt and got to see how oddly sized the Falling Petals skirt is.

When we were in LA, we became addicted to Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. Well, move over Starbucks because our new favorite is Saxby's Coffee. The British Islander Frolatte is so good. It's a combination of toffee, macadamia nut, white chocolate, and some other sinful ingredients.

Yum.

Can I have some Mustard with that?

Mustard is the new black! At least for me. I wish I had attempted to wear this color earlier. Love it with navy blue.

J. Crew Lillian cardigan, cotton ruffle top.
I think the cardigan has a droopy flower (on the right side of the photo). Sad flower :(

Sequins and Ruffles Galore!

Here's a peek at whats to come this Holiday season for J. Crew :)
Lots of sequins and ruffles, mostly in black and navy. Very reminiscent of Holiday '07.
The navy ruffle top I'm wearing under the mustard colored sweater (<--which is not a new arrival) is like a cotton version of the victoria and comes in various colors. I think this was only $39.50!

Also, for those of you who have asked for IRL pics of the silk ruffle cascade jacket, and how to style the merino sweater that looks like a blazer, I will try to post pictures by or during the weekend (when I am more likely to wear them hehe).

Please remember, all photos are copyrighted and should not be used without my permission, thanks.

Yabba Dabba Doo!

Hope everyone had a fun Halloween! This was our first time hosting a Halloween party and it was so much fun. It's kind of interesting to see how Halloween has changed over the years though. So many parents drive their kids around and wait in their cars for them to trick or treat. By the time I have kids, I will probably do the same. Anyway, we decided to dress up as Pebbles and Bamm Bamm from the Flintstones! As I mentioned in a previous post, I always prefer to make my own costume and this one was pretty fun. For H's costume (and that mask is just something I photoshopped in!), we bought the t- shirt from a crafts store for $2.50. The fuzzy animal print fabric is also from the crafts store (83 cents), and the sweatpants-cut into ragged shorts were from Target. The bone and caveman bat are from a Halloween store and cost $3 each. For my costume, I got a pink t shirt for $2.50, cut the bottom and sleeves, and removed the collar so it would look more "raw". I just wore leggings, and we bought wooden beads and painted them white for Pebbles', well, pebbles! For both of our costumes I used adhesive foam and cut those into spots for his shorts and my top. You can't see it but I also had a bone tied in my hair. I had the biggest problem finding one, so if you're ever looking for a bone--go to the Dollar Tree around this time of year. So in total, we spent less than $20 on our costumes and were very happy with the outcome :)

Thanks for reading about my Halloween. Would love to hear about what you wore, whether it was a costume or not!
